Bhakti and Lakshay both grew up in Dubai, a country with a large Indian diaspora. As destiny would have it, these two bumped into each other and a romance soon followed. Rest as they say, is history. They chose Sri Lanka as the destination for their wedding as they loved the tropical laid-back vibe of the country. Their wedding was a leisurely, unhurried affair and the couple had a lovely time celebrating with their friends and family.
The celebrations started with the Mehndi which was a vibrant, pool-side event. Bhakti made an entry with her cute little niece in tow wearing coordinated outfits. Lakshay arrived with an entourage of bongo players while himself playing a bongo. The event eventually turned into a pool-party as the guests needed some respite from the tropical heat. Everyone had a blast and we had an amazing time capturing the fun. The Sangeet was a dazzling affair which started with a ring ceremony and dance performances and turned into a party that went on till the wee hours of morning.
The wedding ceremony was held under a lush green foliage mandap, which was set-up in the lawn next to the lagoon. Lakshay arrived for ceremony riding a cycle rickshaw surrounded by his baraatis and Bhakti, looking every bit the gorgeous bride in her pink lehenga, arrived walking underneath a tropical phoolon-ki-chaddar held by her brothers. The couple tied the knot under the stars with traditional Sindhi rituals. The celebrations closed with a classy black-tie Reception which turned into an impromptu karaoke and DJ night.
